Yesterday, I wondered why a ubuntu-16 system wouldn't lose its
DHCP address after a change from dhcp to static in
/etc/network/interfaces.
TIL: there was also
/etc/network/interfaces.d/50-cloud-init.conf, still
providing the old specs for both the loopback and ethernet
interfaces. Fixed via rm.
I am getting too old for this crap. In particular, I was too old
to notice the .d subdirectory. Let's blame the
color-ls.
